Welcome to Electric, where onboarding new employees is as smooth as a well-grounded circuit! Whether you’re assigning apps, setting up hardware, or managing email accounts, our streamlined process ensures your new hires are ready to hit the ground running. Let’s dive into how you can efficiently onboard your next team member, step by step.



Step-by-Step Guide to Onboarding

1. Locate the Employee Detail Page

Head over to the Employee Detail Page in Electric. This is your mission control for managing individual employees.

2. Select Onboard

Click Actions and choose Onboard from the dropdown menu. The onboarding process will guide you through the necessary steps to get your new hire set up.

3. Enter Employee Information

Fill in your new hire’s details. Here’s where the magic happens:

  • Work Email Creation: If your organization uses Google Workspace, typing in the work email will automatically create it for your new hire.

4. Choose Applications and Hardware

Now it’s time to power up their digital toolkit!

  • Applications Only: Next, you'll assign applications based on this employee's group or department. Note: No apps = no work email creation.

    Hardware Only: A hardware task will be created for the hardware champion to purchase new hardware or assign from existing inventory.

Tip: Be the Hardware Champion

If you’re the designated Hardware Champion, you’ll be immediately directed to the Hardware Store. There, you can select devices from your inventory or place an order for new equipment. Either way, we’ll help ensure your new hire gets exactly what they need.

  1. Applications: "Assign one or more groups to determine which applications this employee receives. Have an HR integration? Their department will be populated automatically."

  2. Hardware: "Since you selected hardware, here's what happens next. Hardware champions will be taken directly to the hardware store to purchase new or assign from existing inventory. Not the hardware champion? A task will be created and they'll be notified via email."


Starting from a Pending Employee Task

You can also access the onboarding flow via a Confirm IT Setup employee Task, which is automatically triggered when you initiate onboarding through your HR system. This ensures all your processes are perfectly in sync, saving you time.
