Device Status Definitions

Learn what the different device statuses mean on the Device Management page in Turbine.

Updated over a week ago

Introduction

Turbine's Device Management page provides visibility to your company's Electric supported devices. There are two different categories for which you may want to understand their statuses better: Locked/Unlocked Devices and Stored Devices.

Locked/Unlocked Device Status

To determine whether a device is locked or unlocked, refer to the Enrolled Devices tab on the Device Management page. Look at the Serial Number column.

  • If a lock command is pending or has been successful, an image of a closed padlock will appear beside the serial number. Hover over the icon to confirm the status.

  • If the device is unlocked, there will not be any icon beside the serial number.

  • If an unlock command is pending, an open padlock icon will appear beside the serial number. Hover over the icon to confirm the status.

Below you'll find more detail about what these statuses mean.

Pending

Devices only appear in Pending status while a device lock/unlock has been started but not completed yet. Pending generally means that the request has been sent and is waiting for the device to receive it.

If the device is in sleep mode, turned off, or not connected to the internet, the lock command may not be received immediately.

There is also some lag time between when we send the messages to lock/unlock and when we get confirmation. This may result in a device holding the pending status for an extended period of time.

Failed

Devices show a Failed lock/unlock status if the request fails.

This could happen for a handful of reasons and will likely vary from case to case. For example, a lock command may fail because the Jamf Pro/Kaseya API fails.

Stored Device Status

The Stored Devices tab on the Device Management page will show you the status of your company's devices that are in storage at Electric. Status vary based on availability for assignment to employees, whether the device needs repair, and more.
