Storage Requirements

There are requirements that must be met to be eligible for Electric's device storage service. Failure to comply with these requirements may warrant additional charges billed to the customer.

  • Electric only stores laptops and their associated chargers. We do not store other devices/accessories such as: desktops, keyboards, headsets, etc.

  • The laptop’s model year and purchase date must be less than 5 years old.

  • Laptops must be functional and fully unlocked - i.e. devices cannot be firmware/BIOS locked, defective, Activation Locked, etc.

  • Macbooks should have iCloud accounts removed. Learn more here.

  • Devices should be in an acceptable working/physical condition.

Check out this article if you need additional guidance to determine whether a device is in the appropriate condition for storage at Electric.

Security for Stored Devices

Electric implements several measures to make sure the devices that you store at Electric HQ remain safe and secure. The following is a list of these security measures:

  • All devices remain in locked inventory rooms until they are requested

  • General access to the Electric office is restricted by key card access

  • Access to the inventory is restricted to members of Electric’s Hardware Lab team

Loss and Damage Policy

All devices that are shipped to Electric are thoroughly inspected for any physical damage and confirmed to be in an unlocked, usable condition. Each device’s state and condition will be noted in our internal systems at the time the device is checked into storage.

In the event that a device, which has been previously confirmed as received and checked in to Electric’s storage, is lost, stolen, misplaced, or damaged while in Electric’s possession, we will replace that device with an equivalent or better version. The replacement will be as close to the original as possible.
