QR Code Device Returns

Learn how Electric's partnership with UPS helps to streamline the device return process for you and your employees.

Introduction

Electric’s QR code device returns reduce the hassle of dealing with boxes, packaging, and labels when returning a company-owned device. In partnership with UPS, Electric’s integrated process offers customers faster device returns and more streamlined employee offboarding.

Process Overview

The Turbine Offboarder will initiate the request for a QR code return while completing an Offboarding Request. When completing the request form, the Offboarder will be expected to indicate the date/time of the offboarding and whether the employee will be returning a device. If the employee has a device to return, the Offboarder must indicate where the device should be shipped to, how return shipping should be handled, and provide a personal email address for the departing employee.

Return shipping can be processed two ways. QR Code Returns are Electric's recommended method; this will be selected by default on the offboarding form. With this type of device return, the departing employee will receive a QR code to their personal email address shortly after the designated offboarding time. The Offboarder and departing employee's manager will also receive a notification around this time.

The second shipping method Electric offers to customers is a Label Only Return. To learn more about this option, visit this article.

Employee Expectations

To complete a return, the employee must drop off their company device and its charger at their nearest UPS store (find yours here!). No box, return label, or packing by the employee is necessary.

⚠️ Authorized UPS pick-up and drop-off centers will not accept these shipments.

Departing employees should take their device and QR code to The UPS Store as soon after their offboarding as possible. Electric will send reminders to the former employee if the QR code is not scanned by UPS 7-days, and again at 14-days, after the designated offboarding date. The Offboarder and employee’s Manager will also receive notifications if a return hasn't been made.

UPS Partnership

Upon receipt of the departing employee's device, UPS will scan the QR code, provide a box, take care of packaging, and ship the device accordingly. Please note that the return must be completed at a The UPS Store retail location; UPS Access Points cannot complete device returns.
