Introduction

When an employee is offboarded, it’s likely that they will need to return their company-owned device. Whether a device is being returned to the employer or to Electric for storage, Electric has options for shipping. This article will explain label only device returns, which is commonly used when a departing employee or the employer can provide their own packaging. Electric will not provide boxes for device returns.

Label Only Returns Process

The Turbine Offboarder will initiate the request for a label only return while completing an Offboarding Request. When completing the request form, the Offboarder will be expected to indicate the date/time of the offboarding and whether the employee will be returning a device. If the employee has a device to return, the Offboarder will need to indicate where the device should be sent to and how return shipping should be handled.

Return shipping can be processed two ways: Label Only Return and QR Code Return. When Label Only Return is selected, the departing employee receives a shipping label via email shortly after the designated offboarding time.

Employee Expectations

To complete the return, departing employees must print their shipping label, package their laptop and charger based on UPS guidelines, and take them to The UPS Store nearest them.

It is advised that departing employees drop off their device with UPS as soon after their offboarding as possible. The person shipping a device is responsible for following UPS packaging guidelines. If a device is returned or refused as a result of non-compliance, additional costs may be incurred by the customer.
