Microsoft Entra Integration (HR)
Introduction
Looking to connect Microsoft Entra as your employee source of truth? Electric supports Microsoft Entra through Merge, our secure integration provider.
Once connected, employee directory data from Microsoft Entra will sync into Electric to power onboarding, offboarding, and lifecycle automation.
Please note: Microsoft Entra is supported via Merge and is not a direct Electric partner integration.
Feature Details
How the Microsoft Entra Integration Works
Electric connects to Microsoft Entra using Merge’s secure OAuth authentication flow.
After connection:
Employee directory data syncs into Electric
Updates made in Microsoft Entra reflect in Electric
Sync occurs approximately every 1–2 hours
Employment status changes can trigger onboarding and offboarding workflows
Sync Frequency
The Microsoft Entra integration syncs approximately every 1–2 hours.
This is not a real-time sync. If changes are made in Microsoft Entra, please allow up to two hours for updates to appear in Electric.
Important Limitation: Groups & Departments
Microsoft Entra group and department data do not sync into Electric through the Merge integration.
This means:
Groups will not automatically populate in Electric
Departments will not automatically populate in Electric
Group-based application assignments must be configured manually within Electric
If you rely on groups or departments for application access or onboarding workflows, you will need to create and manage those groups directly in Electric.
What Data Syncs from Microsoft Entra?
The following employee data fields sync into Electric:
First Name
Last Name
Work Email
Employment Status
Role / Job Title (if available)
Phone Number (if available)
Group and department fields do not sync.
