Introduction

In order to use Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) for device provisioning, your company will need to get set up for automated device enrollment. Successful set up of automated device enrollment relies on your company having a Dun & Bradstreet Number (DUNS), an Apple Business Manager (ABM) account, and Apple Custom Store (ACS). This article will tell you how to set up these pre-requisites and why they are important.

What are the requirements for Zero Touch Provisioning?

Customers interested in using ZTP for device provisioning will need to be set up with automated device enrollment. This section outlines the three requirements that all customers must meet before this enrollment can be completed.

The DUNS number is a unique 9-digit identifier that is assigned to businesses. A DUNS number is required for anyone that wants to set up an Apple Business Manager account for their company.

Acquiring a DUNS number is free and applications must be submitted to Dun & Bradstreet, here. It may take up to 30 days to receive your DUNS number, unless you pay an expediting fee at the time of your application. If the additional fee is paid, you can expect to receive your company's DUNS number within 8 business days.

Once you have a DUNS number for your company, you may proceed with setting up an Apple Business Manager (ABM) account. You can find instructions for signing up for an ABM account here. Enrollment in ABM is free.

In order to enroll in ZTP for your Apple devices, your company must be enrolled in automated device enrollment through your ABM account.

An Apple Customer Store (ACS) account ties newly purchased devices to your ABM account. When you purchase new devices through Electric's Turbine platform, the purchase will be made through your ACS account. This ensures the device is connected to your inventory and provisioned in accordance with your company's individual requirements.
