Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) from Electric

Learn how Zero Touch Provisioning creates a cohesive experience for Turbine Onboarders and new employees.

Updated over a year ago

Introduction

Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) is the simplest way to get your employee's procured devices from Apple. With ZTP, newly purchased devices will ship directly from Apple to your employee. Upon receipt of the device, provisioning will automatically begin when the employee opens up their device and connects to the internet for the first time.

Device Eligibility

All Apple Macbooks produced from 2018 to date are eligible for ZTP. For a device to be eligible for ZTP, it must contain the T2 security chip or Apple silicone chip.

If you are interested in ZTP but have outdated Macbooks, your Customer Success Manager can make recommendations for device upgrades.

Benefits of Zero Touch Provisioning

  • Save money on shipping - Once enrolled, your Apple devices will ship directly from the retailer to your new employee, an average cost savings of $100 per device.

  • Get devices in employee hands sooner - Since Apple devices will no longer need to ship to Electric for provisioning before they are delivered to your employee(s), they'll arrive to the employee 2 to 3 days faster.

  • No remote provisioning session required - If you currently use Electric's remote provisioning option, this will no longer be necessary once ZTP is implemented. Instead of scheduling time with one of Electric's technicians to finish the set-up for their device, they'll simply open up the computer, connect to the internet, and provisioning will occur automatically.

  • Increased security - Instead of arriving with a pre-configured username and password that is shared over email, employees will set up their username and password on their own at the time of arrival.
