Introduction

Assigning owners to company-owned devices is essential for maintaining visibility into device usage and facilitating troubleshooting efforts. With Electric, you have two convenient options to assign devices: directly from within the Device Management table or via the Device Registration feature. This ensures seamless management and optimal performance across your organization's IT infrastructure.

This process of assigning ownership, also called device mapping, can be completed in Turbine in just a few steps. With this functionality, a Turbine Admin or Owner can send out a request to all their users who do not have a device mapped to them, or they can modify ownership for a single device/user. While we provide instructions on assigning device owners via the Turbine admin panel, we recommend considering device assignment directly from the Device Management table.

Please refer below for instructions on adding a device to the Device Management table.

  1. Navigate to the Serial Number associated with the device.

  2. Click on the three-dot icon.

  3. Choose the user from the dropdown menu based on the User Profile linked to the device.

  4. If you cannot locate the user or if the User Profile information does not assist in mapping the device to a user, please email product-support@electric.ai.

This approach ensures devices are enrolled in MDM before sending out the Device Registration email to users, which is critical for smooth device management.

Steps to Assign Owners to Devices

  1. Sign in to Turbine and navigate to the Device Management page.

  2. If you have any company devices not assigned to an end user, a banner will appear at the top of the Device Management page indicating how many devices are unassigned. Click the Send Email button in this banner.

  3. A new window will pop up that includes a list of employees not currently assigned to a device. By default, all unassigned users will be selected to receive a device registration email.

    • To send an email to all unassigned users, click Send Email.

    • To email a specific user(s), click Deselect All at the top of the list. Then, find and select the individual(s) you want to assign a device to on the list. Once your selection has been made, click the Send Email button.

  4. A window will appear asking you to approve the requested action. Select Yes, and send an email to proceed.

  5. A confirmation will appear on your screen to indicate the email(s) was sent. This concludes the process.

The selected end users will receive an email prompting registration. The link must be re-sent if registration is not completed in the 72-hour timeframe. To resend the registration link, repeat the process above.
