Types of Device Provisioning

Provisioning at Electric

Provisioning begins after a device is received at Electric HQ. Requests are started in order of receipt but may be subject to change based on the volume of current requests. Below are the average provisioning timelines* based on the number of devices being provisioned at a time.

  • 3-5 business days to provision < 5 devices at a time.

  • 7-9 business days to provision 5-10 devices at a time.

  • Custom timing will be required to provision > 10 devices at a time. Please contact your Customer Success Manager.

Upon completion of device provisioning, the laptop will be packaged and shipped out to the end user. Electric will notify the recipient that their equipment is in-transit by sending an email to the address provided in the original provisioning request. Email notifications will be sent when the device has shipped, if a delivery exception has occurred, and upon delivery to its destination.

All devices provisioned by Electric HQ will be shipped via UPS. In order to guarantee specific date deliveries, we use Next Day Shipping for newly provisioned devices.

*Provisioning timelines do not account for the time required for device procurement.

Employee Initiated Enrollment

With Employee Initiated Enrollment your employees can set up their devices easily and independently, saving your team time. When creating an onboarding, select "employee-initiated enrollment" for your provisioned devices. If selected, your employees will receive an email from Electric with a link and instructions to set up their devices in your IT environment.

Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP)

Zero Touch Provisioning (ZTP) is the simplest way to get your employee's procured devices from Apple. With ZTP, newly purchased devices will ship directly from Apple to your employee. Upon receipt of the device, provisioning will automatically begin when the employee opens up their device and connects to the internet for the first time. Visit this article to learn more!

SaaS-only Provisioning

SaaS-only Provisioning is subject to license availability, customer response, and required approvals. Typically, SaaS-only onboardings take 3 business days to complete.
