Introduction
In the event of a device-related emergency (ex. sudden termination or device loss) you can lock your device directly in Turbine, limiting the risk of a security breach. When the issue has been resolved and the device is ready to be unlocked, you can refer to this article.
Please note, due to limitations with Jamf Pro, the remote lock feature via Turbine is not possible for Macs with an M1 chip. For assistance locking this device type, please contact Electric.
Steps to Lock a Device
To lock a device, the intended device must be connected to WiFi.
Sign in to Turbine and navigate to the Device Management page.
In the list of Devices, find the device you want to lock. Click the icon in the Actions column for the device.
A dropdown will appear. Select Lock Device from the dropdown.
A prompt will appear on the screen explaining the implications of the lock command. Read this prompt. If you wish to proceed with the device lock, continue to the next step. To cancel, close the prompt window.
To proceed with the device lock, click the checkbox beside the employee's name.
Click the Lock Device button to complete the command.
A message will appear on your screen confirming the device lock is in progress.
Reload the page; the device should show a Pending lock status.
Once the device lock is complete, the lock status will change to Success.
