Introduction
Whenever a macOS update is available, end users with Electric supported Macs will be prompted to install the latest version. This helps to ensure company devices are running securely and efficiently. This article will help you to install Electric prompted and device prompted updates.
⚠️ You may be expected to reboot your computer after installing an update. Electric recommends saving and closing important documents prior to beginning the installation in an effort to ensure your prior work is not lost.
Steps to Update macOS
There are two different device updates that you will encounter if you use an Apple device: Electric prompted updates and native macOS updates.
Electric prompted updates are security updates that are being executed by Electric through your device management software. These updates help to ensure proper security compliance. Native updates are prompted when your device manufacturer has released an update to existing OS software on your device.
The process for each of these updates is outlined below. Expand the section(s) based on the type of update you're interested in learning how to complete.
