Introduction
Not every device needs MDM. Not every employee needs a company laptop. Electric knows that one size doesn't fit every seat in the org chart, so we built a way to keep your dashboard counts honest: Mark as Not Applicable.
With this feature, Admins can flag specific devices as not requiring MDM enrollment, and specific employees as not requiring a company device. The result? Your MDM enrollment tile stays accurate, your dashboard stays clean, and you spend less time squinting at metrics that don't actually apply to your business.
Feature Details
Why It Matters
Some employees genuinely don't need a device from you (contractors using their own laptop, for example). Some devices genuinely don't need MDM (a shared kiosk machine, a personal device you don't want managed). Without a way to mark these as exceptions, they show up as gaps in your enrollment numbers, and gaps that aren't real gaps are just noise.
Where You Can Do This
Admins have three entry points to mark something as Not Applicable, so you can do it wherever you happen to be working:
-
Dashboard Modal: Right from the MDM Enrollment tile.
-
Employee Detail Page: Directly on an individual employee's profile.
-
Asset Detail Page: Directly on a specific device's record.

Reversing a Designation
Circumstances change, an employee might get a device down the line, or a device might later need MDM enrolled. When that happens, keep in mind:
-
Reversing a designation can only be done from the Employee Detail Page or the Asset Detail Page.
-
The Dashboard Modal does not support reversing a designation, since it's built for quick, one-way flagging.
