How to Remove Old Profiles from Your Mac (MacOS Ventura)

This article will teach you how to remove old profiles from Mac devices operating with OS Ventura.

Updated over a week ago

Introduction

Jamf Pro is the device management software used by Electric to automate and provide IT support to end users that work on a Mac/iOS device. To help with the migration to Jamf Pro, Electric will un-enroll you from your previous instance. However, this may not automatically remove your profiles from your device, in which case we would need your help to manually remove them. This 5-step process is detailed below.

⚠️ If your device is operating with an earlier OS version (i.e. Monterey, etc.) please follow the steps outlined in this article.

Steps to Remove Old Profiles from a Mac (OS Ventura)

  1. Click the Apple icon in the top-left corner of your screen.

  2. This opens a drop-down menu, select System Settings from the list.

  3. Navigate to Privacy Settings > Others > Profiles.

  4. Select the existing MDM Profile and click the β€˜-’ (minus) button to delete it.

  5. Once all existing profiles are removed from the Macbook, you are ready to install Jamf Pro on your MacOS Ventura device.

πŸ€” Troubleshooting Tips

I followed the steps above but it didn't work, what do I do now?

  1. Open the Terminal app on your Mac

  2. Once Terminal is open, Copy/Paste this command: Sudo profiles remove -all

  3. Press Enter.

  4. When prompted, key in your password. You will not see any feedback on the screen when entering your password, that's ok!

  5. Press Enter.

This command may take a moment to complete. When finished, reboot your computer and proceed to installing Jamf Pro.
