Introduction
Electric's device storage service enables customers to leverage Electric for inventory management, lessening stress on your internal teams and streamlining new hire onboarding. This article describes our process for checking in devices for inventory.
Check-In Process
Below is an outline of the tasks completed when a device is delivered for storage at Electric.
Laptop restored to factory settings (removal of previous data/configurations).
Laptop is physically cleaned and sanitized.
Device inspection for physical damage that may prevent it from working properly.
Run device diagnostics (if deemed necessary).
Verify the device is not locked (firmware/BIOS, Activation Lock, etc.).
If provided, inspect the laptop charger and ensure it is in working condition.
The device is added to Electric's inventory management system.
How long does the process take?
It may take several days before these devices are checked in and made available for requested provisioning and shipping. Below are the approximate timelines before a device is available to a customer after receipt by Electric:
New Computers: ~3 business days
Used Computers: ~5 business days
Bulk Shipments of 10+ Computers: ~10 business days
