Microsoft 365 Onboarding Process

Electric's onboarding process for companies that use Microsoft 365 as an email provider.

Updated over a year ago

Introduction

When an Onboarding Request is submitted to Electric, someone from Electric's team of SaaS Support Specialists helps to configure email and application access for the new hire based on your company's specifications. Below is an overview of the process for customers that use Microsoft 365 for email.

Process Overview

  • The SaaS Support Specialist will process device procurement tasks first. Once the procured device is available, Electric will partner with you to ensure it’s set up according to your company’s specifications.

  • The Specialist will create your new hire’s email address. Electric uses Microsoft’s generated temporary passwords by default. However, you may request that we use a company-wide temporary password specific to your company.

  • The Specialist will assign the requested Microsoft 365 license(s) to the new hire.

  • After the email has been created, the User will be added to distribution lists, Security/Microsoft 365 groups, or calendars noted in the Onboarding Request.

  • The Specialist will grant the user access to the Electric-supported applications specified on the Onboarding Request.

    • For applications not supported by Electric, an email will be sent to your company’s Internal App Admin prompting them to grant the user access.

  • The Specialist will build the Welcome Email your new hire will receive using an email template unique to your organization. This includes:

    • Instructions for how to reach Electric.

    • The new hire’s email credentials.

    • A list of applications the new hire has been invited to.

  • Upon completion of the onboarding, the Onboarder will receive a summary email with a list of actions completed by Electric to onboard the new hire.
