Introduction
Electric supports hundreds of applications for our customers, but there are some applications that we are unable to provide support for.
At a high level, Electric cannot support these applications because they contain sensitive information that Electric should not have access to or they are complex and customized in nature. Keep reading to learn more about each unsupported application type.
Types of Unsupported Applications
Application Programming Interfaces (APIs)
From company to company and across various applications, APIs are highly customizable. This makes establishing a standard operating procedure for employee onboarding and offboarding complex. Furthermore, troubleshooting APIs requires an advanced understanding of programming languages, which Electric technicians are not trained for.
Customer Relationship Management Application
The customizable nature of CRM tools means the usage of these applications from company to company will vary greatly. This makes establishing a standard operating procedure for employee onboarding and offboarding complex. An internal administrator who knows your company well is better suited to manage and troubleshoot these applications.
Data Analytics Applications
From company to company and across various applications, Data Analytics Applications are highly customizable. This makes it challenging to establish a standard operating procedure for troubleshooting application-related problems. While some data analytics applications are approved for support, it will only be to support user permissions/access to the tool.
Developer Applications
While Electric has a number of security measures in place to ensure the privacy and security of our customers, developer tools contain sensitive proprietary information that Electric should not have access to. These tools are highly customizable and utilized differently from company to company making it difficult to standardize onboarding and offboarding. Department leads (Head of Engineering, CTO, etc.) should retain management permissions.
End of Life Applications
For applications that have reached or are approaching end of life, Electric will not provide any support. This is designed to ensure that Electric is staying ahead of the curve when it comes to IT and the expertise we provide on our Service Desk.
Financial Services Applications
While Electric has a number of security measures in place to ensure the privacy and security of our customers, we will not assume the risk for the security of sensitive financial information. Your Finance team should retain ownership of any financial or accounting application.
Human Resources Applications
Although Electric assists our customers with onboarding and offboarding, our management does not include human resources applications. Although Electric has a number of security measures in place to ensure the privacy of our customers, these applications generally contain sensitive employee information which Electric should not have access to. Your Human Resources team should retain ownership of any human resources applications.
Industry-Specific Applications
Due to the specific expertise required to troubleshoot industry-specific applications, Electric is not qualified to troubleshoot these tools. These applications typically require an in-depth knowledge of the application, best left to the application developer to support. Whats more, while Electric has security measures in place to ensure the privacy and security of our customers, these tools may contain proprietary information that Electric should not have access to.
Payment Platforms
While Electric has a number of security measures in place to ensure the privacy of our customers and their information, payment platforms typically have sensitive financial information Electric should not have access to. Your Finance team should retain ownership of any financial or accounting application.
Personal/Home Solutions
There are many application types that offer both home/personal and business or enterprise-grade versions. These home versions cannot be managed from within a centralized admin dashboard, therefore Electric is unable to provide support for them. Electric can, however, assist companies with migrating home/personal version software to a managed business version!
Proprietary Platforms/Apps
Electric supports many companies that are founded and based on proprietary software. Given the diversity of proprietary technology, Electric does not have the capacity to learn each and every tool to feel comfortable enough to provide the quality of support our customers deserve. Ultimately, the owner of the proprietary software will know best how to use their tools and should retain management.
Social Media
Social Media accounts are web-based applications that generally do not have a centrally administered dashboard to manage accounts and licenses. Social media is not a function of IT and is generally considered a function of marketing departments.
