The HR Plan gives you an easy, no-cost way to handle the basics: buy laptops, get them where they need to go, and track your company devices, all from your Electric account. It’s IT made simple, so you can focus on everything else.

Is the HR Plan really free?
Yes. The TriNet IT HR Plan is included at no additional cost for TriNet customers.
Do I need an IT person to use TriNet IT?
No. The HR Plan is designed for HR or Operations teams. You only need admin credentials to get started.
How do I activate TriNet IT?
From your TriNet environment, you can create your TriNet IT instance and follow the guided setup to connect your employee records.
What can I track in the HR Plan?
You can track:
Laptops and desktops
Tablets
Phones
Keyboards and Mice
Warranties
Any other Miscellaneous items
Can I upload my existing hardware to Asset Management?
Yes. You can upload devices via CSV.
What if the item I want is not listed in the hardware store?
If you are looking for a specific device or accessory that is not currently shown, please contact support@electric.ai with the item details (brand, model, configuration, and quantity).
Our team will review your request and let you know if the item can be sourced and added to available inventory.
Can I ship items internationally?
Yes. Electric is able to ship hardware purchased through our international quoting process to over 130 countries.
Are payment plans available for hardware purchases?
Yes. Payment plan options may be available for qualifying purchases made through the hardware store.
How do hardware payment plans work?
If eligible, you may have the option to spread hardware costs over time instead of paying the full amount upfront. Terms and availability may vary.
Is there a minimum purchase required for a payment plan?
Minimum purchase thresholds do not apply.
Where can I see available payment options?
Available payment options are displayed during the checkout process within the hardware store.
Does choosing a payment plan impact device shipping?
No. Selecting a payment plan does not delay shipping once your order is processed and approved.
Can I assign a device to an employee?
Yes. You can assign inventory devices to employees directly from the asset management page. Additionally, items will be automatically assigned if purchased through the storefront.
What happens when someone leaves?
You can initiate a retrieval request. This will generate a QR code that will allow your employee to take their laptop to any UPS location and the UPS will pack, ship, and insure it.
Note: Charges will only apply if the QR code is used.
Can I order new laptops?
Yes. You can purchase hardware through the integrated hardware store.
Are devices pre-configured?
Pre-configured devices are available on the Pro plan.
Can I ship directly to a remote employee?
Yes. Devices can be shipped directly to employees across the continental U.S.
Can I track shipments?
Yes. Shipment tracking information is available within the platform.
How does device retrieval work?
When you initiate retrieval:
A prepaid shipping process is generated.
The employee receives instructions.
The device is packed, insured, and shipped.
Inventory updates automatically once received.
Does the employee have to pay for shipping?
No. The retrieval process includes prepaid shipping, which your company will be billed for once the shipping process is used.
Is retrieval available internationally?
Currently, retrieval services are supported within the continental United States.
What is Warehousing?
Warehousing allows you to store company-owned devices with Electric between employees. When a laptop is returned, it can be cleaned, inspected, and placed back into available inventory so it’s ready to be reassigned to a future hire. Laptops can be shipped to the warehouse via the Ship a laptop page.
Note: Monthly storage fees apply.
What happens when a device is sent to the warehouse?
When a device arrives:
It is received and logged into inventory
It is inspected to confirm it powers on
It is checked for a safe, functional charging cable
It is factory reset to remove company data
It’s operating system is restored
Any warranty work is facilitated
Its condition is updated
It is placed into available inventory for future assignment
This ensures accurate inventory records and device readiness.

Can I reassign a warehouse device to a new hire?
Yes. Devices stored in the warehouse can be reassigned directly from inventory and shipped to a new employee from the Company Assets tab in the Store Front.

Does the HR Plan include MDM?
No. The HR Plan focuses on asset management and visibility. Advanced device management and security enforcement are available on the Pro plan.
Does the HR plan include automated app provisioning?
No. Automated application provisioning is available in both the Essentials and Pro plan.
Can I remotely wipe or lock devices in the HR plan?
Remote lock and wipe features are included in the Pro plan, not the HR Plan.
What happens when I add a new hire in TriNet?
You can initiate hardware purchase or assign inventory directly within TriNet IT.
What happens when someone changes roles?
You can update asset assignments and maintain accurate inventory records.
What happens when someone is terminated?
You can:
Initiate device retrieval
Update asset status
Maintain audit visibility
Can I see all company devices in one place?
Yes. Asset Management provides a centralized, real-time inventory view.
Can I export asset data?
Yes. Asset data can be exported for reporting or audits.
Does this help with compliance?
The HR Plan provides asset visibility. For enforced compliance policies and security controls, the Essentials and Pro plans are recommended.
When would I upgrade?
You may want to upgrade if you need:
Automated app provisioning
Device security enforcement
Remote lock and wipe
MDM policies
Identity and access management integrations
How do I upgrade?
You can contact sales or select an upgrade option directly within the Electric platform.
Do I need to install anything for the HR plan?
No software installation is required for the HR Plan.
Is this cloud-based?
Yes. TriNet IT is fully cloud-based.
Does it integrate automatically with TriNet?
Yes. Employee data from TriNet connects to TriNet IT powered by Electric to maintain lifecycle alignment.
