Account Linking Steps - Login with Google
Introduction
For all users with a username and password already for Electric – who then attempts to login with Google – there is an additional setup step to link the current account with the Google account.
This one-time linking process ensures existing account data, settings, and configurations stay intact while unlocking the convenience of Google authentication for all future logins. Once linked, you'll access Electric without the hassle of remembering another password.
The Account Linking Process
Step 1: Initiate Google Login
Navigate to the Electric login page, enter your email address, and click “Continue”
A 'Google' SSO button will appear. Click that button.
This will begin the connection process between your existing account and Google's authentication system.
Step 2: Google Authorization
You'll be redirected to Google's secure authentication page where you'll:
Select or confirm your Google account
Review the permissions Electric needs to access basic profile information
Click "Continue" to authorize the connection
Note: Electric only accesses your name, email address, and profile picture.
Step 3: Link Your Existing Username/Password Account
After Google authorization, you'll arrive at the "Link Your Existing Account" page.
You'll see your Google account information displayed
Electric will detect if there's already an account associated with your email
Click "Link Account" to begin the final connection step
Step 4: One Last Manual Authentication
To complete the linking process securely:
Enter your current Electric username and password one final time.
This verifies that you own both accounts and authorizes the permanent link
After entry, you will be redirected to the product.
What Happens After Linking
Once your accounts are successfully linked:
Future Logins: Simply click "Sign in with Google" and you're in.
Account Security: Your account maintains the same security level with added Google protection
Team Access: Other team members will need to complete their own linking process individually
Troubleshooting Tips
Multiple Google Accounts: If you have multiple Google accounts, make sure to select the one that matches exactly to your current Electric access email address which should be the same domain as your workplace.
Authentication Issues: If you encounter any problems during the linking process, try clearing your browser cache and cookies, then restart the process.
