Authentication

Introduction

Getting connected to Electric is the first step to powering up your IT operations. This guide will walk you through logging in to the Electric portal, including securing your account with Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA), and safely logging out when you're done.

Feature Details

Secure Access

  • Your Electric login serves as the gateway to comprehensive IT management tools, ensuring that only authorized users can access your organization's sensitive IT infrastructure and employee data.

Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

  • MFA adds an extra layer of security by requiring a second form of verification beyond your password. This double-check system keeps your account protected, even if your password is compromised.

Safe Session Management

Setting Up Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA)

  • Adding MFA to your account is like installing a smart lock on your account. It is a best practice for securing data, as it provides an extra layer of security that confirms it is only you accessing your account.

To Set Up MFA:

  1. Log in to the Electric for the first time ever

  2. Choose your preferred MFA method:

    • Authenticator App (recommended): Use apps like Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authy

    • SMS/Text Messages: Receive verification codes via text

    • ⚠️ Note: International phone numbers are not supported for SMS verification

For Authenticator Apps:

  1. Download an authenticator app on your mobile device

  2. Scan the QR code displayed in the Electric login screen with your authenticator app

  3. Enter the 6-digit code generated by your app

  4. Click Verify and Enable

For SMS (US numbers only):

  1. Enter your US-based phone number

  2. Click Send Code

  3. Enter the verification code you receive via text

  4. Click Verify and Enable

Important Note: If you have an international phone number, we recommend using an authenticator app instead of SMS, as international numbers are not supported for text-based verification.

Sign Up Option - Verification

If the self sign up option is selected from the login options, via the pink text, and an email is input that is not yet associated with an Electric customer, a verification page will appear to verify the email before the login can proceed.

A verification must be complete in the email before logging in to see the Electric portal. Please follow the in product prompts and in email prompts to complete.

How to Log Out Safely

Logging out properly ensures your session ends securely, protecting your organization's data and maintaining system security.

To Log Out:

  1. Click on your initials in the top-right corner of Electric

  2. Select Log Out from the dropdown menu

  3. You'll be redirected to the login page, confirming your session has ended

Best Practices for Secure Access
