Updated over 6 months ago

Streamline device management and ensure peak organizational performance with our intuitive Device Overview.

What should I expect from Device Overview?

Today, you might have limited visibility into your employees' devices' security and overall health. IT Hub solves that by continuously acquiring data to generate a holistic view of device fleet health and surface technical areas that require attention across your business.

As soon as an employee installs the Electric Desktop App, data begins streaming in, creating a tailored recommendation. This dynamic dashboard is populated with detailed employee device information, enabling proactive management and optimizing your IT ecosystem. It becomes your one-stop, bird-eye view of all things devices.

Empower administrators within your Electric IT Hub account to take easy action, or have your device concerns remediated proactively by Electric’s MDM solution. Admins can send targeted instructions via email to colleagues flagged for device non-compliance, such as reminders to activate their firewalls for enhanced security.

What is the Electric Desktop App?

The desktop app is a proprietary OS and Windows application built by Electric’s developers that gathers read-only data on your devices to tailor your experience to your specific device data. Personal/private data is not scanned or seen via the Electric Desktop App.

In the process of installing the Electric Desktop App, you might also see a notification mentioning “osquery.”

This is a known software to Electric. It allows Electric to receive structured device fleet data from their framework equally across multiple device types and display it back to you in the platform. You can read more about this software here: https://osquery.io/

What data points are unlocked per device once the app is installed?

  1. Battery health: Poor battery health can lead to lengthy charge times, lost productivity, and potential security risks in the long run.

  2. Firewall: A firewall can protect your device from unwanted contact initiated by other computers when connected to the internet or network.

  3. Gatekeeper: Gatekeeper is designed to ensure that only trusted software runs on your Mac.

  4. OS update: Operating system upgrades and periodic patches introduce enhanced security and prevent newly discovered vulnerabilities

  5. Encryption: BitLocker for Windows and FileVault for Macs help prevent unauthorized access to the information on your startup disk by encrypting your disk.

  6. Storage: Disk space helps computers perform system functions, run applications, and manage memory with optimum speed and efficiency.

RAM: If a device doesn’t have enough RAM (Random Access Memory), it can be slow and sluggish.
