Updated over a year ago

Introduction

If you use your Microsoft 365 login for other applications (i.e. Apple Mail) you may need to create a unique App Password in order to log in on those applications.

Steps to Create a Unique App Password

  1. Go to https://myaccount.microsoft.com/ and sign into your account.

  2. Once signed in, look for the Security Info widget and then click on Update Info.

  3. Click on Add A Method. From the dropdown menu, select App Password.

  4. Enter a name for the App Password. The name should match or reference where you will use the password (i.e. My iPhone) and must contain at least 8 characters.

  5. Click Next.

  6. Copy the password given to you and save it in a safe place. You'll need it to sign into your account from your preferred application.

  7. Click Done.

The system will not give you the password again after you close this box. If you forget your app password, you will need to complete the process again.
