Introduction

Whether your company has purchased a Core or Basic package from Electric, if you use Okta, you have the option to integrate Okta with Electric. This integration enables certain Turbine Users to sync Okta groups with Turbine so that they show up on the Onboarding Request form, making it simple to specify how user accounts should be configured.

Add the Okta Integration

To complete this process, you must sign in to Okta using an administrator account that has permission to create API Keys.

  1. Sign in to Okta.

  2. Navigate to the Okta Admin Console.

  3. Navigate to Security > API Console.

  4. Click the Tokens tab.

  5. Select Create Token.

  6. Create a name for your token, i.e. Electric AI - Integration.

  7. Copy and API key that's created.

  8. Paste the API key into a safe place, such as a password manager.

  9. Share your API key securely with Electric via Onetime Secret.

    1. Paste the API Key in the onetime secret text box.

    2. Click Create a Secret Link.

    3. Copy the link provided.

  10. Create a new email to your Customer Experience contact using Turbine Okta Integration as the email subject line.

  11. In the body of the email, include your Okta domain and the secret link generated with your API key.

  12. Send the email. The integration will be enabled within one business day of Electric receiving your company's Okta information.

Moving or merging your Okta tenants?

Your Customer Success Manager can help you move your integration, we'll just need a new API key and the domain of your new Okta tenant.

Using the Okta Integration

Connecting Okta with Electric will let you sync your Okta groups with Turbine. Your Okta groups will appear in the Onboarding Request form, making it simple to specify how user accounts should be configured in Okta.

Can't find an Okta group in Turbine?

Okta groups will only show up in Turbine if users can be directly added to them. You may see additional groups in Okta if you've imported groups from another application (ex: Google Organizational Units), or from an external Directory service such as Active Directory. Users are assigned to these groups automatically by Okta and are not configurable in Turbine.

Remove the Okta Integration

  1. Log into your Okta account and navigate to Security > API

  2. Find the token you created to integrate with Electric.

  3. Click the trashcan icon next to the token to delete it.
