Uploading Assets via CSV

If you are receiving an error, please confirm that you are saving as a .csv. This can be done in Excel, Numbers or Google Sheets.

Have a list of company devices gathering digital dust in a spreadsheet? Let’s plug them into the IT Hub! Our CSV upload feature makes it easy to bulk-add your assets—no manual entry, no IT overload. Just one quick upload and your devices are tracked, tagged, and ready to roll.

Whether you're onboarding new gear or importing existing laptops into Electric, this feature gives you an electrifyingly simple way to keep your asset list up to date.

Feature Details

🔌 What’s Included in the CSV

You’ll use a template with the following columns:

  • Name – Give your device a friendly label. (Ex: “Ethan’s MacBook Pro”)

  • Asset ID – Your unique internal ID for the device. (This will be auto populated by the system with a custom ID if one is not entered)

  • Asset Type

    • Accessory

      • Additional device or component used to enhance or support a primary device (e.g., stylus, case).

    • Audio

      • Any equipment used for sound output or input, such as speakers, sound cards, or audio interfaces.

    • Cable

      • Wires used to connect devices or provide power, including USB, HDMI, charging, and Ethernet cables.

    • Desktop

      • A stationary computer typically used in offices or workstations, often with separate monitor, keyboard, and mouse.

    • Dock

      • A docking station that connects a laptop or tablet to multiple peripherals like monitors, keyboards, and networks.

    • Headphones

      • Personal audio output devices worn over or in the ears for listening to sound privately.

    • Keyboard

      • Input device used for typing, typically with a QWERTY layout.

    • Keyboard/Mouse combo

      • A bundled set that includes both a keyboard and mouse, often wireless and designed to work together.

    • Laptop

      • A portable personal computer with an integrated screen, keyboard, and trackpad.

    • Microphone

      • An input device that captures sound, commonly used for video calls, voice recording, or streaming.

    • Miscellaneous

      • Category for items that don’t fit neatly into other predefined hardware types (keycards, keys, furniture, etc.)

    • Monitor

      • A display screen used to view the output from a computer or other video source.

    • Mouse

      • A hand-held pointing device used to interact with a computer interface.

    • Phone

      • A mobile or desk phone used for voice communication, potentially including smartphones or VoIP devices.

    • Power adapter

      • A device that converts electricity to the correct voltage for charging or powering electronics.

    • Service

      • A software or subscription-based product like antivirus, cloud backup, or IT support plans.

    • Tablet

      • A portable touchscreen device, typically larger than a phone and used for browsing, reading, or light wo

    • Video

      • Devices or accessories related to video output or input, such as webcams, projectors, or capture cards.

  • Assigned To – Email of the employee using the device.

  • Purchase Date – In YYYY-MM-DD format.

  • Purchase Price ($) – What you paid.

  • Purchased From – Store or URL.

  • Brand – Apple, Dell, Lenovo—you get the idea.

  • Model – Specific model name or number.

  • Serial # – Helps us verify and track the device.

  • Site – Location of the asset (like “NY Office” or “Remote”)

    • Sites can be found or added by doing the following:

      • Open the IT Hub

      • Select Devices in the left menu

      • Select Assets in the left menu

      • Click the ‘Add asset’ button

      • Click the ‘Add site’ button at the bottom of the page

      • Use the ‘Name’ field in this form

  • Status

    • In use

      • The asset is in use by an employee or otherwise being put to productive purposes.

    • Available

      • The asset is available for use and not in any degraded condition.

    • Under repair

      • The asset is under repair, possibly by an OEM repair facilitator.

    • Donated

      • The asset was donated or given to a third party. This status is considered non-active in the Assets table.

    • Sold

      • The asset was sold to a third party. This status is considered non-active in the Assets table.

    • Disposed

      • The asset was disposed of, possibly resulting in a Certificate of Destruction or some similar document. This status is considered non-active in the Assets table.

    • Missing

      • The asset was lost or stolen.

    • Archived

      • The asset record has been archived (see below) and the asset itself is either permanently out of commission or its record was created in error. This status is considered non-active in the Assets table.

    • In transit

      • The asset is being transported (perhaps by a logistics provider) from one geographic location to another.

  • Condition

    • New

      • Brand new and unused. The device is in perfect condition with no signs of wear and includes all original components and packaging.

    • Used (Good)

      • Lightly used with minimal signs of wear. Fully functional and well-maintained, with no major cosmetic flaws.

    • Used (Fair)

      • Shows moderate wear such as scratches or scuffs, but remains fully operational. May have minor cosmetic imperfections.

    • Used (Poor)

      • Heavily used with noticeable wear and tear. Still functions but may have cosmetic or minor functional issues.

    • Damaged

      • Not in working condition or missing critical components. May require repair or replacement.

  • Notes – Anything else you want to add.

  • Warranty Expiration – Also in YYYY-MM-DD format.
