Device Overview

Introduction

The Device Overview page in the IT Hub provides a comprehensive snapshot of your organization's device management status. It allows you to quickly assess the number of active employees compared to those who have installed the Electric App, ensuring seamless integration and usage.

The page also offers an at-a-glance overview of your device inventory, highlighting the number of devices currently in use versus those available for deployment. Additionally, it keeps you informed about any pending device orders and identifies any existing issues within your inventory, enabling proactive management and timely resolution of potential problems.

Enrollment Status

In the upper-left corner of the page, you will see a card labeled ‘Enrollment Status.’ This number reflects the count of employees who have installed the Electric application and MDM compared to the total number of assigned devices (laptops or desktops). Your goal should be to ensure these two numbers match, indicating full adoption of Electric across your organization.

If you are on the Quickstart plan, we will be comparing the number of devices that have the Electric application installed to the total number of assigned devices.

Enrolling employees with Electric

To send out an invite to all your employees:

  1. Navigate to the IT Hub

  2. Click on the Device overview page in the left menu

  3. In the Enrollment status card, click the '# employees without an enrolled device” link

  4. Select the employees you wish to send an invite to

  5. Click Preview email

  6. Click Send Email

Device Assignment Status

The Device assignment status card shows the total number of devices (laptops or desktops) that are assigned to employees.

Devices that are in an archived status will not show on this card.

The device assignment status also shows the number of employees without a device assigned to them.

It is sometimes ok if this number is not zero. In the case that you have an employee who is using a personal device that you do not want MDM or the Electric app installed on, they will still appear in this number.

Device orders

The Device Orders card is found in the left corner of the Device Overview page, providing quick access to your purchase requests. If no orders exist, the card will display a link to the device catalog, allowing you to easily browse and initiate new purchase requests.

Device health monitor

If you are using MDM, Electric can provide detailed reports on device issues. Additionally, if you are only using the Electric app, it will notify you of issues related to firewall, encryption, storage, and RAM. MDM further enhances security by allowing the addition of Gatekeeper to ensure only trusted software runs on your Mac, keeping the OS up to date, and ensuring lock screen requirements are met.

Click on each of the tiles in the Device Issues section for more details and to view devices that are not compliant (will appear as a red dot with the number of devices that are not compliant). This allows you to quickly identify and address any issues affecting your device fleet.
